We have officially launched a new Hillel at the University of San Diego!
Glenda Sacks Jaffe, who has served in a variety of roles within Hillel of San Diego for nine years, has been appointed as USD Hillel’s first Director. She is on campus three days a week to engage with Jewish students and to empower student leaders in energizing Jewish life on campus. During the orientation week, Glenda put out a table on campus and met dozens of students who were thrilled to learn that they have a Hillel at their school. (Parents were even more thrilled!) They all look forward to getting involved through a wide array of programs this year.
The first big program will be the construction of a Sukkah on campus. Students, faculty and friends are invited to join in the Sukkah on Thursday, October 20th from noon to 2:00 pm. It’s an opportunity to shake the lulav, learn about the holiday, have a snack and mingle. For more information, please email Glenda.
Hillel is grateful to the administration at the University of San Diego, a private Catholic institution, for welcoming Hillel to campus in an effort to enrich the lives of Jewish students and serve as a Jewish resource for all students on campus.
We extend our deepest thanks those individuals who have provided seed funding to establish USD Hillel:
- Founders: Luis Maizel and The Michan Family
- Investors: The Waisburd Family
