Religious School Song Leader

Beth Israel, a large, vibrant Reform Congregation in San Diego seeks a dynamic, energetic song-leader to provide the spirit “ruach” and musical elements for our 300 Religious School students in grades K-6.

Responsibilities include:
Facilitate song/music activities for different age groups and different sized audiences. Integrate new and creative songs and ideas into existing school traditions. Must have the ability and presence to assist in and lead a lively school Shabbat services in conjunction with the Religious School Director and clergy.

Compensation and hours: 
The ideal candidate would be available on Wednesday, Thursday from 4:10-4:45, Sunday mornings from 9-11:30 am and several Erev Shabbat services during the year. Sunday availability only will be considered. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Administrative Assistant and Media Manager

Administrative assistant for part time Jewish school wanted. 15 – 20 hours per week, $12 per hour

Thursday afternoons 3:30pm – 6:30pm and Sunday mornings 8:30am – 12:30pm when school is in session required, additional hours available for flexible scheduling.

Necessary skills:
• Some knowledge of Jewish customs, rituals, and educational resources/materials
• Proficiency in photography and uploading to Facebook, websites, and other digital formats
• Interest and ability to expand digital mediums of communication among school families
• Organized and detail oriented to support teachers and students, and to maintain the physical office space
• Proficient in basic data entry, Excel, Word, and Publisher (or other graphic design program) for record keeping, administrative tasks, and distributing publicity for programs and events
• Friendly and helpful in answering phone calls, emails, and extending greetings on campus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and provide direction for others
• Self-starter and ability to fully manage projects from beginning to end

Teacher at Jewish Learning Center (Ner Tamid, Poway)

Seeking part time Sunday and Wednesday Hebrew/Torah school teachers.

Qualified candidates will possess the following qualities:

  • experience working with children, a must
  • hired teachers must be diligent–teachers must be responsible for lesson plans, preparing, using, and handing in to supervisor
  • willing to learn and implement new methods of teaching, especially for Hebrew language
  • energetic and able to move through various different activities during a class hour
  • Hebrew and knowledge of Judaism/Torah a plus, but we will train able teachers as needed
  • able to lead t’fillah also a plus

We are a growing Conservative synagogue in Poway seeking teachers for our learning center. K-1 meet on Sundays, 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Grades 2-7 also meet Wednesday afternoons 4:15-6:15 pm. Teachers must be in class 15 minutes prior to class times. Mandatory half hour meetings after every Sunday class. Lesson plans must be turned in. Teachers must be able to attend up to 9 hours of training prior to the start of the school year.
