On Friday November 17, CSUSM Hillel hosted our annual pre-Thanksgiving Shabbat dinner. In years past, this was a dairy meal referred to as “everything but the Turkey”. For the first time in CSUSM Hillel’s history we had kosher turkey complete with parve sides. This was an amazing learning opportunity for students to talk about what it means to keep kosher and how we can have delicious mashed potatoes without using butter. Weeks before the big event, students discussed how to have traditional sides and keep things kosher. The student who manages our pintrest account made a fantastic board with tons of options. While the students missed adding vanilla ice cream to their pie, the evening was lively, fun, and delicious.
