FYSH (First Year Students of Hillel) celebrated Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish new year for the trees, with a variety of fruit and chocolate.
Participants made fruit kabobs, and each decorated and planted a flower pot with a variety of herbs and flowers such as chamomile, lavender, sage, and mint.
Tu B’Shevat is an ecological holiday designed to remind Jews of our connection to the earth and to our role as caretakers of the environment.
Summer is winding down (well, not really in San Diego when it can feel like summer year-round) and students are beginning to come back to campus.
Your Hillel of San Diego family has been waiting with bated breath (pun intended) to see you all again in person. And while we cannot wait for the day when we can truly put this pandemic behind us, we are overjoyed with reopening our doors and beginning to emerge from an all-virtual Hillel to a newly reopened Hillel.
