FYSH (First Year Students of Hillel) celebrated Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish new year for the trees, with a variety of fruit and chocolate.
Participants made fruit kabobs, and each decorated and planted a flower pot with a variety of herbs and flowers such as chamomile, lavender, sage, and mint.
Tu B’Shevat is an ecological holiday designed to remind Jews of our connection to the earth and to our role as caretakers of the environment.
Students at each of our four campuses have the opportunity to take part in the Jewish Learning Fellowship program, which is a 10-week conversational seminar for students to dive into Judaism and understand the religion in their own way.

As a new member of the LGBT Resource Center’s Affiliates Program, UC San Diego Hillel students meet once a week in the LGBT Resource Center for a program called “Torah Queeries.”
