Figuring out who you are and how you want to be Jewish is a core part of our mission at Hillel of San Diego. Through an array of learning opportunities, you can connect with new friends and find your Jewish story.
*All programs are open to all students across San Diego. The school identified in the listing represents where the program is based.
The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is an 8 to 10 week experiential, conversational seminar for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms. We’re interested in asking big questions. You know, stuff like – Who am I? What communities am I a part of? What is worth committing myself to, and why? And while we don’t purport to have any of the big answers, we hope that you can discover a bit about yourself in the process. We make no claims about the “right” way to practice or not practice Judaism. Our job is to help you explore our tradition in a safe space and find your own place, on your terms, in Judaism’s Great Conversation. If this already doesn’t sound too good to be true – we will also pay you a small stipend to participate!
Jews in Comedy will be a 10 week learning fellowship in the spring semester of 2025. It will examine the concept of “Jewish Jokes”, what makes a Jewish joke, why are so many famous comedians Jewish and how Jewish humor has helped keep the ruach of the Jewish people alive.
Coming in the spring, email Alex at akaufman@hillelsd.org.
Come join us for any of our open door sessions of ‘Heritage in your home’. In these sessions we will meet at Hillel for some snacks and an educational session and project where we will learn about the different artifacts associated with the Jewish holidays. Each session will culminate with a project where you will make the item itself and take it back with you. Hopefully by the end of the school year you can have a full set of artifacts to stay with you even after graduation.
Contact Jessica at jmeyer@hillelsd.org for more information.
Join us at SDSU to unpack Torah led by different student leaders throughout the semester. Looking to learn more before a holiday, come to a lunch and learn! Want to unpack torah through art? Come to a lunch and learn! There’s really something for everyone!
