What matters to me most regarding Hillel is that Jewish students have a safe haven and community of friends on or near campus, especially in these tumultuous times. That students can gather for Shabbat, High Holy Days, to study and/or just hang out in a Jewish space, and feel like they belong, is a blessing. I believe it strengthens their connection to Judaism and can very much influence that connection after college and moving forward into adulthood.

I attended SDSU and graduated in 1969. There wasn't a Hillel then. What matters to me is that Jewish students have a warm, safe, and welcoming home away from home for the all too brief time that they are at school. College can be a critical formative part of a young person's life that can leave a lasting positive imprint for the rest of their lives. Hillel can provide that. I missed that back then and want the newest generation to have that. Thank you for all the important work that you do.

I am the Co-Founder and President of the Hillel Business Initiative!  I founded the Hillel Business Initiative (HBI) to combine my passions for business and Jewish life, creating a space where students can connect, innovate, and grow together.  My vision is for HBI to be the go-to community at SDSU for networking, mentorship, and real-world skill-building that sets students up for future success.

Hillel has been so much more than a community space for me, it’s been a launchpad. This year, I had the opportunity to bring TFI’s vision to life on campus, and I couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement of the Hillel team. They pushed me to think bigger and supported me through every challenge. It may sound weird, but the staff became my friends. We grew together, worked through tough moments, and celebrated real wins. I gained leadership and real-world experience that I’ll carry with me far beyond college.
